Digital literacy; language maintenance; Indigenous languages of Mexico
This paper describes a three-year research and development project designed to create and apply horizontal and intercultural digital educational materials for literacy development in the Seri language (Cmiique Iitom, SEI) spoken in the communities of Punta Chueca and El Desemboque, Sonora, Mexico. By working together with community members, the project is aimed at boosting literacy and digital literacy practices among members of the project’s collective who promote the local culture and language, as well as students at the elementary, middle school and high school level, teachers and families of the communities at large.
